The St Catherine’s Camerata String Orchestra showcases the exceptional talent and dedication of young musicians from St Catherine’s School. Known for their vibrant ensemble playing and polished performances, St Catherine’s Camerata will perform two classic works for string orchestra by Peter Warlock and Edward Elgar.
Capriol Suite, Warlock’s most celebrated work, first appeared in 1926 scored for string orchestra, and takes its melodic material from a fascinating and highly original book Orchésographie by Thoinot Arbeau, published in 1588, which explains the complexities of sixteenth century dance steps and music.
